Delhi’s Railway Stations to get a bright new sheen

New Delhi: The central government has given a budget of Rs 2,582 crore for the development of railways in Delhi division. Recently Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav claimed that 27 times more budget has been given than the previous UPA government. Between the years 2009-14, this budget was around 96 crores, which has been increased to 2,582 crores for the year 2024-25.

He said that 13 stations in Delhi will be renovated under the Amrit Bharat Station Yojana. Currently four projects are underway, in which 302 km of new tracks are being built. This is a project worth Rs 4,778 crore.

The look of these railway stations will change

The 13 stations in Delhi to be renovated include Adarsh ​​Nagar, Anand Vihar, Bijwasan, Old Delhi, Delhi Cantt, Sarai Rohilla, Shahdara, Hazrat Nizamuddin, Narela, New Delhi, Sabzi Mandi, Safdarjung and Tilak Bridge. The government claims that 13 rail flyovers and underbridges have been built in Delhi since 2014.

Two new tracks in New Delhi

According to the information, two lines are the busiest in Delhi, new tracks have been announced to be built between them. Among these, the fifth and sixth lines will be laid between New Delhi and Tilak Bridge. This line is 2.65 km. The third and fourth lines will be laid between Tilak Bridge and Anand Vihar. This line is 9.77 km. Its construction will facilitate running of trains between New Delhi and Anand Vihar. It is often seen that when the train arrives at New Delhi station, trains have to wait on the outer due to the track being busy. Train service will improve after two tracks are built between Tilak Bridge and New Delhi and Anand Vihar to Tilak Bridge.

Apart from this, there is also a plan to build a new terminal in Anand Vihar. Apart from this, there is a plan to lay a new track of 104 km between Delhi- Sohna- Nuh- Firozpur Jhirka- Alwar. Similarly, an additional line will be laid between Delhi- Shamli- Tapri- Saharanpur bypass including 175 km and Delhi- Sabzi Mandi- Delhi Main.
